DHAKA, Aug 16, 2025 (BSS) – A court here today remanded two main suspects in the murder of Rahat Hossain Rabbi Murder at a shisha lounge in capital’s Banani area on August 14.
Magistrate Israt Zenifer Zerin granted three days remand for the main accused Abdul Malek Munna, 27, and one day for his accomplice Maksudur Rahman Hamza, 26, in the Rahat murder case.
Investigation Officer (IO) in the murder case filed a petition with the court seeking 10 days remand for each of them, Sub-Inspector Mokter Hossain of Banani Police Station confirmed it to BSS.
Earlier on Friday, a joint team of RAB-1 and RAB-11 arrested the duo in separate raids in Barura area of Cumilla district, said a RAB press release.
The knife used in the murder was seized today from Rajia Sultana Road in Dhaka's Mohammadpur area, it also said.
Robiul Awal, father of the victim Rahat, filed a murder case in connection with the incident.
The incident occurred in the early hours of August 14, when both suspects Munna and Hamza stabbed Rahat with a sharp knife following an altercation at ‘360 Shisha Lounge’ in Banani.
He was then rushed to Kurmitola General Hospital, where on-duty doctors declared him dead.
The murder took place following a long-standing rivalry with Rahat over dominance in the Banani lounge, RAB and police sources said.
