BARISHAL, Aug 9, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) national executive committee member Abu Naser Muhammad Rahmatullah has expressed optimism that his party will return to power in the upcoming national election confronting "enemies of democracy."
"The people who are attempting to thwart the next election are the enemies of democracy. The countrymen could not exercise their voting franchise in the past 16 years. The BNP will be voted to power in the next election confronting all the conspiracies," he said.
He was addressing as the chief guest at a memorial discussion in honor of late BNP leader Md Zakir Hossain Swapon at Charmonai Union here.
The people who are trying to obstruct the upcoming election are the real enemies of democracy," Naser said, as quoted by the official Facebook page of the BNP Media Cell.
He claimed that a path for restoring democracy and ensuring voting rights has now been cleared following the fall of what he termed the "fascist Awami League government," attributing the development to the people's prolonged struggle.
Referring to the party's policy, Naser said, "The 31-point state reform agenda proposed by the BNP is essential for building a happy and prosperous Bangladesh. If implemented, it will transform the nation."
He also asserted that the BNP is the only viable political force capable of enhancing Bangladesh's image on the global stage.
"There is no alternative to BNP for the country's advancement. The people will elect BNP through their votes in the upcoming election," he added.
With Charmonai Union BNP Vice President Master Jalal Ahmed in the chair, the event was addressed, among others, Union Secretary General Md Rafiqul Islam and Barishal District Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leader Tareq Ahmed Sumon.
