DHAKA, Aug 8, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy today called upon all to remain vigilant in national interest.

He said this while speaking at the Sanatani rally organized by the Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Front at the Jatiya Press Club auditorium.

Gayeshwar said Awami League and India need a riot in Bangladesh and then they can turn the political tide and the election can be thwarted.

“That is why we, all of you, have to be vigilant in our national interest,” he added.

The BNP leader said Sheikh Mujib instigated Bihari-Bengali riots, separated Bihari and Bengali and got an absolute majority in the 1970 elections - making the people of this region Bengalis.

“The Awami League is very clever behind such incidents. If necessary, they will set their own house on fire,” he said.

“No one is communal and no religion as well. But sometimes to confront something, riots were created, so that people's views go in another direction. Ershad also did this in ‘88,” he said.

He also said there is a politics in communalism. “Many communal riots have happened in India, in this subcontinent due to political reasons, due to some rumors. These riots are still going on in India. This communalism has existed for thousands of years in the midst of political wickedness,” he said.
Commenting that Hindus are the enemy of Hindus, Gayeshwar said, not Muslims, rather Hindus are enemy of Hindus.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed said, "There is religious harmony in our folk culture as well. Hindus and Muslims are part of a larger culture, and there was also a harmony in the culture for our respective religions. There was no difference here, there was no division here. Sheikh Hasina wanted to break this. She wanted to show that this country is full of division and division.”

He said, during Sheikh Hasina's tenure, temples and shrines were broken, idols were broken. But most of those who have been caught are people from some organization of Awami League, he said, adding that even after escaping, their conspiracy does not stop.

Rizvi said, "Today, I see on BBC that they are saying that an Awami League office has been taken in Kolkata. Big leaders have started traveling there. What is the reason? The people of our country are wondering whether something is being done from there. Whether any big plan is being made - this thing is working in everyone's mind."

Aparna Roy Das, president of the Puja Udjapan Front, chaired the rally while BNP acting chairman's adviser Mahadi Amin, national executive committee organizing secretary Shama Obaid, joint secretary general Mir Sarafat Ali Sapu, religious affairs secretary Rafiqul Islam, Sammilita Peshajibi Parishad secretary general Kader Gani Chowdhury and Jatiya Hindu Maha Jote secretary general Govinda Chandra Pramanik spoke as special guests.
