DHAKA, Aug 8, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee member Major (retd) Hafizuddin Ahmed has expressed fear that the next parliamentary elections will face a lot of chaos in the country.

"Before the elections, there will be a lot of chaos in the country. Taking refuge in India, mafia leader Sheikh Hasina will unleash many violent incidents to destabilize the country and thwart the elections," he said.

The senior BNP leader expressed this fear at a discussion titled 'Swift Trial, Fundamental Reforms and Parliamentary Elections' held at the Zahur Hossain Auditorium of the Jatiya Press Club here under the joint initiative of Agni Social Foundation and Our New Bangladesh, marking the anniversary of the July Uprising.

"We all have to be vigilant. We, the countrymen, regardless of party affiliation, must be united to resist the subversive activities of this mafia. Let this be our pledge today," Hafizuddin added.

He hoped that the upcoming election will help establish democracy and achieve economic extirpation in the country.
"This election will take place to banish this Hasina-Awami League misrule forever," he added.

He expressed hope that the people's vote will be reflected through a fair election.

The people of Bangladesh have been waiting for this election for a long time, he said, adding that many people have given their lives to restore democracy and ensure fair elections.

He expressed gratitude to Chief Adviser and Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus for his role in ensuring the holding of the country's next parliamentary elections in early February.

"I express my sincere thanks and gratitude to Professor Yunus for fulfilling the promise he made in London during a meeting with our leader, Tarique Rahman, that elections would be held in the first half of next February," the BNP leader said.

He added, "We hope that this commitment will result in a free, fair, and credible election that reflects the will of the people."
