DHAKA, Aug 7, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today said the government has met the people's demand and expectations by announcing that the upcoming national elections will be held before Ramadan.
"Preparations have started as the Chief Adviser has already sent a letter to the Election Commission. People are hoping for a transparent and fair election under the interim government," Rizvi told reporters.
"BNP will extend full cooperation to ensure the elections are held in a neutral and credible manner," he said.
He made the remarks while speaking to journalists after visiting the family of Masuma Begum, who died in the recent aircraft crash at Milestone School in the capital's Uttara.
Rizvi, however, underscored the public's desire for a governance system rooted in accountability.
"Without accountability in all aspects of government, the country cannot progress," he said.
During the visit, Rizvi also provided financial support to the bereaved family on behalf of 'Amra BNP Poribar'.
He said that BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has taken responsibility for the education of Masuma Begum's son, Abdullah.
Several BNP leaders and activists, including journalist Atiqur Rahman Rumon, convener of Amra BNP Poribar, were also present at the event.
