11 more AL men arrested in city 

DHAKA, Aug 4, 2025 (BSS) - In the ongoing special operations to maintain law and order in the capital, the Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested 11 more leaders and activists of the Awami League (AL) and its affiliated organizations in the last 24 hours.  

The arrested have been identified as former Dhaka South City Corporation ward councilor of the reserved women's wards (58, 59 and 60 of Kadamtali Police Station) Sultana Ahmed Lipi (46), ex-APS of former lawmaker of Gaibandha Sadar-2 constituency, Shah Muhammad Sabur Hossain (48), general secretary of Krishak League of Pabnapur Union No. 7 of Palashbari Police Station, Gaibandha district, Shah Bipul Khandaker alias Bodi (40), online Awami League blogger and activist, Kamal Pasha Chowdhury (65) former Vice President of Kishoreganj District Chhatra League Md. Sohag Mia alias Mirza (33), Vice President of Barontech Unit of Dhaka Cantonment Thana Awami League, Md. Matlab Munshi (55) , President of Subil Union No. 4 of Debidwar Thana, Cumilla District, Md. Ramiz Uddin Sarkar (58), former Vice Chairman of Sariakandi Upazila Awami League of Bogura District and President of Sariakandi Upazila Jubo League Md. Ayub Ali Tarafdar (47), Vice President of Bangshal Thana Jubo League Saidur Rahman Titu (48), Joint General Secretary of Tejgaon Industrial Thana Awami League Syed Amanullah Hossain alias Apu (59) and Vice President of Dhaka North City Chhatra League Md. Ariful Islam (38).

Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed their arrest.  
 
A team of DB Wari Division arrested Lipi from Kadamtali Police Station area on Sunday. There are multiple cases against her linked to the July uprising. 
 
The remaining others were captured in separate raids from Mohammadpur, Moghbazar, Pallabi, Bangshal, Bhatara, South Begunbari Ramna and Tejgaon areas. 
 
All the arrestees were wanted in multiple criminal cases including, the July uprising cases. 
 
The police earlier on Sunday arrested 21 leaders and activists of the AL and its affiliated organizations on charges of attempting to create sabotage.
