CHITTAGONG, July 31, 2025 (BSS)- The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against 28 persons, including former land minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Jabed and his wife former chairperson of United Commercial Bank Limited (UCBL) Rukmila Zaman, for embezzling Taka 15 crore from the UCBL.
ACC Assistant Director M Mainuddin of ACC head office today filed the case with Chattogram integrated district office-1.
Deputy director of Chattogram coordinated district office-1 Subel Ahmed confirmed the matter.
The other accused include UCBL director Asifuzzaman Chowdhury, 46, brother of ex land minister, sisters - Roksana Zaman Chowdhury, 56, Afroza Zaman Chowdhury, and UCBL official Abu Hena Mohammad Fakhrul Islam, 40.
A total of Taka 15 crore was approved as working capital by the UCBL Chittagong Port Branch for Reliable Trading, owned by Jashim Uddin Chowdhury, who is also an official of Aramit Cement, a company owned by the former land minister, according to the case statement.
Earlier on July 24, the ACC filed another case of embezzlement amounting to Taka 25 crore against the former land minister.
