DHAKA, July 29, 2025 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested five persons for their suspected link to robbery impersonating members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and rescued two persons from their clutches at Nagar Kanda area in Faridpur district. 
  
The arrested have been identified as Didar (29), son of Golam Sarwar, of Hidadanga village under Alfadanga Thana of Faridpur district, Md. Saiful Islam (30), son of Kachu Sheikh, of Nabijan Village under Sundarganj Thana of Gaibandha district, Mintu Gazi (45), son of late Mina Gazi, of Madna Village under Chandra Thana of Chandpur district, Md. Jamil (32), son of Monir Hossain, of Andarchar Village, under Kalkini Thana of Madaripur district and Swapan Khan (45), son of late Nur Mohammad Khan, of Golghar Village under Jajira Thana of Shariatpur district. 
 
Two brothers who were rescued from the clutches of the detained robbers are Joydev Adhya (53), his brother Bishwanath Adhya (57), sons of Manindra Nath Adhya of Khalish Khali Village under Patkel Ghata Thana of Satkhira district. 

Rapid Action Battalion-10 Commander Additional DIG Mohammad Kamruzzaman briefed the media today about the arrest at RAB Media Centre at Kawran Bazar here. 
 
Earlier on Monday, Joydev and his brother Bishwanath purchased jewelry making dies or machine parts from a jewelry store in the Tantibazar area of the Old Dhaka for business purposes and left for Satkhira Patkel Ghata by Tungipara Express bus from Fulbaria-Gulistan.
 
Later in the evening, at 6pm, some criminals in a microbus stopped the bus at Joy Bangla More area under Nagar Kanda Police Station in Faridpur district identifying them as RAB personnel. 
 
Three to four people wearing RAB uniforms entered the bus and forced the victims down and into the microbus, blindfolded them with a towel and then snatched cash worth Tk 2,700 and the purchased goods from the victims and beat them up.
 
A RAB-10 team based on secret information and with the help of information technology arrested the five criminals and seized the microbus from Nagar Kanda Joy Bangla More area of Faridpur district and rescued the two victims within a few minutes of the robbery. 
 
RAB personnel also seized four black RAB jackets, three black RAB caps, one set of black raincoats, two pairs of handcuffs, one black backpack, two walkie talkie sets, one walkie talkie set charger, one lithium battery charger, two black pistol covers, one black pistol-like gas light, one red laser light, one black self-defense stun gun, three mobile phones and one microbus were seized from the possessions of the arrestees. 
 
The arrestees were accused in multiple cases on various criminal charges.
