RANGPUR, July 29, 2025 (BSS) – Noting that the law and order situation is normal now in Aldadpur Balapara village under Gangachara upazila in Rangpur, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Rabiul Faisal has said the works of repairing the houses of the affected Hindu families will begin today.
After inspecting the overall scenario of the affected Hindu families in Aldadpur Balapara village on Monday, Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Rabiul Faisal said 19 families out of 22 are currently living in their homes.
Three Hindu families, including the family of Ranjan Kumar Roy, who was detained for making derogatory remarks, and his uncle's family, are staying in their relatives’ homes in neighbouring villages, said a joint statement of administration and police issued by the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing.
Rabiul Faisal spoke to the affected Hindu families and assured them of standing by them.
He said the works of repairing the houses of the affected families will begin today under a joint initiative of the district and upazila administrations.
At present, the law and order situation is normal. The army and police are engaged in maintaining security here.
Meanwhile, Rangpur Superintendent of Police Md Abu Saim said a total of 12 houses were damaged in the attack on Hindu families, while 22 families lived in these houses.
He said since Ranjan was arrested, his father, grandfather and uncle's family left their homes.
All the male members of the other 19 families are now staying in their respective houses, he said, adding that since their houses were affected, some female members with their belongings went to other places by rickshaws.
He said the administration and police are working with local leaders to restore harmony there.
Abu Saim said once the damaged houses are repaired, all of Hindu families, including their female members, will return to their respective houses.
Stating that work is underway to identify those involved in the attack on Hindu families, he said legal action will be taken against all those involved in criminal acts.
