KURIGRAM, July 2, 2025 (BSS) - National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam today said the people of Kurigram have always been oppressed.
"Development does not mean progress only in Dhaka. We cannot call that development as development until development reaches the marginalized people of the country," he told a rally at Ghoshpara after street march from Thrimohani Bazar to Ghoshpara.
Nahid said, "Kurigram means the fight for a fair share of Teesta water. Kurigram means Taraman Bibi taking up arms in the Liberation War. The people of Kurigram had fought repeatedly from the Sepoy Rebellion to the Fakir Sanyasi Movement. But Kurigram has always been oppressed."
"We will not accept any delay in the Teesta Master Plan. This plan must be implemented so that Kurigram is not neglected. Even today, our brothers die on the border. We have not yet received justice for the murder of our sister Felani. We will not accept a single murder on the border."
He urged cooperation from all to build a new Bangladesh.
