DHAKA, July 2, 2025 (BSS) - BNP acting Chairman Tarique Rahman today said as the country's largest political party, BNP's sacrifice is also high for the sake of the country and democracy as whenever democracy is under threat, BNP takes to the streets.

“People are the source of all power of BNP. As a party, we have to reach out to people with our policies and ideals. The party representatives have to go to the 125 million voters,” he said while virtually addressing Patuakhali district BNP council.

Expressed hope of returning home very soon, Tarique Rahman urged the party men to act in harmony to fulfill the people’s expectations and stay with the people wholeheartedly keeping the people by their side.

The BNP acting chairman said if the democratic foundation of the country has to be strengthened, BNP must play a leading role.

“Even if there are differences of opinion, there must be tolerance. We must reach a solution through discussion by showing tolerance and respect for differences of opinion," he said.

Noting that BNP had already proposed political reforms, Tarique Rahman said, "Even before proposing reforms, BNP also made many concessions to the consensus commission of the interim government. Even though they did not agree on many issues, BNP made concessions in the interest of democracy so that everyone can move towards the elections."

Taking about BNP's democratic practice, Tarique Rahman said, "We want to maintain the practice of democracy not only in the state but also within the party. Because we believe in democracy, we give importance to differences of opinion, listen to them and try to find solutions."

Tarique Rahman said BNP's main responsibility is to fulfill people's expectations. The misdeeds of one person in the party cannot be allowed to make the entire party suffer, he said.

He urged the party men not to do anything that can make people upset about BNP.

Mentioning BNP’s belief in democracy, Tarique Rahman said his party wants that 125 million voters can elect their representatives through ballots in the next general election so that no one can conspire here.

“So be vigilant so that no one can conspire with the right to vote,” he said.
