DHAKA, June 29, 2025 (BSS) - Prominent educationist, poet and writer Abu Hena Mustafa Kamal was remembered as a multi-dimensional figure whose intellect, creativity and literary contributions continue to inspire generations.
At a commemorative seminar held on Sunday afternoon at the Bangla Academy, speakers reflected on his enduring legacy in Bangladesh's cultural and literary landscape.
Organized by Bangla Academy, the event drew renowned writers, scholars, and academicians who hailed Kamal as a visionary whose literary output, though limited by his untimely death, remains profoundly impactful.
Bangla Academy Director General Professor Mohammad Azam described Kamal as a "much-discussed figure in the literary and cultural world of Bangladesh.
Presiding over the session, Bangla Academy President Professor Abul Kashem Fazlul Haque called Kamal "a colorful literary personality," emphasizing his dual contributions as an educationist and an innovator during his brief tenure as Director General of the Academy.
Writer and educationist Professor Salimullah Khan presented the keynote paper, portraying Kamal as "a friend-like teacher and a multi-dimensional writer."
Joining the discussion, Professor Azfar Hossain praised Kamal as a legendary orator and dedicated teacher who believed poetry was the essence of life, once saying that "a life without poetry is like a dead soul."
Noted Nazrul Sangeet artiste Sujit Mustafa, son of Abu Hena Mustafa Kamal, shared his personal reflections saying: "I came here today to learn what he was like beyond being my father."
"He was always quietly supporting me from behind. Only now I do fully realize the depth of his absence," he added.
