DNCC approves Tk 6,069cr budget for 2025-26 FY

DHAKA, June 25, 2025 (BSS) – The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has approved a budget of Tk 6,069 crore for the fiscal year 2025-26.

The budget was unanimously approved at the 7th corporation meeting of DNCC held at Nagar Bhaban (Gulshan-02) today, said an official release.

The income target in this budget has been set at Tk 6,069 crore with same amount of estimated expenditure.

The revenue target in the budget has been set at Tk 3,636 crore, which is equivalent to 60 percent of the total budget income.

Speaking at the meeting, the DNCC administrator said, “Meeting the high revenue collection target will be a challenge. However, the DNCC is ready to accept this challenge”.

“In terms of expenditure, priority will be given to the development of the newly created 18 wards,” he added.

Around 76 percent of the proposed budget, that is Tk 4,624 crore, has been earmarked for the development purpose by giving topmost  priority to road and infrastructure development sector with allocation amounting to Tk 2,032.50 crore (33%) of the budget.

The second highest allocation, Tk 436.30 crore (8%), has been given to the waste management sector, while Tk 187.75 crore has been allocated for mosquito control activities.

Four percent of the total budget amounting to Tk 257 crore has been allocated for the salaries, allowances and remuneration of officials and employees.

DNCC also plans to collect 45 percent of the total revenue from the holding tax, cleanliness, lighting and health sectors for the 2025-2026 financial year.

Thirty-percent of the total income estimated to be Tk 1,080 crore, is expected to be earned from the property transfer sector.

The remaining amount is planned to be collected through government and private cooperation and donations.

The meeting decided to forward a proposal to the Ministry of Administration for approval to change the name of the title of "Ward Secretary" working in all wards of DNCC to "Ward Supervisor", "Ward Coordinator" or "Ward Organizer".
