Nur may need few weeks to fully recover: DMCH director

DHAKA, Sept 8, 2025 (BSS) - Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) Director Brigadier General Md Asaduzzaman today said that the physical condition of Gano Adhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur is improving and he may need few weeks to fully recover from his injuries.

“Nurul Haque Nur may need few weeks to fully recover. He (Nur) has been suffering from viral fever,” he said, adding that Nur, also a former vice president (VP) of the Dhaka University Central Students Union (DUCSU), would be released any day after his recovery from the viral fever.

The DMCH director told the journalists at a briefing on the latest condition of Nurul Haque Nur at at the hospital.

The director said that a high-powered medical board was constituted immediately after the admission of Nur at his hospital and started his treatment. 

His main problem was excessive bleeding due to the fracture in his nose and throat, he said, adding that four to six weeks may require for rejoining the fractured bones and he has no problem in eyesight.

Referring to a rumor on the loss of memory of Nur, the DMCH director ruled out the rumor and quoting a neurosurgeon said that there is no scope of loss of memory in such an injury.

Replying to a question regarding the treatment of Nur taking him in abroad, the hospital director said, he may be taken abroad for better treatment if his family wants.

Among others, Head of the Neurosurgery Department Prof Dr Shafiqul Islam and Head of the Ophthalmology Department Prof Dr Hosne Ara Usmani were present at that time.

At least 50 leaders and workers of Gano Adhikar Parishad including its chief Nurul Haque Nur were injured during a clash between the activists of Jatiya Party and VP Nur’s party in city’s Kakrail area on August 29 last. 

Nur was immediately taken to nearby Islami Bank Hospital and later shifted to the emergency of the DMCH in according with the advices of the on duty doctors.
