Gano Sanghati chalks out month-long programmes marking July uprising

DHAKA, June 24, 2025 (BSS) - Gano Sanghati Andolon has chalked out a month-long programme on the occasion of the first anniversary of July uprising.

It has also decided to hold its central conference in Dhaka from October 10-12.

Gano Sanghati Andolon’s Executive Coordinator Abul Hassan Rubel announced the programmes on July uprising and timetable for the party’s 5th National Council at a press conference held at its central office in Hatirpool today. 

As part of the programmes, the party will held an assembly of July fighters, family members of July martyrs and injured people on July 4. A view exchange meeting on the theme of new Bangladesh will be held with young members of Gano Sanghati Andolon and special national extended meeting on July 5. 

Other programmes include July gathering at the birth place of July martyred Abu Sayeed in Rangpur on July 16, July public gathering in Dhaka on July 25, July gathering at the memorial place of martyred Julfikar Sakil in city’s Mirpur on August 1 and paying of respect to the July martyrs on August 4.

Replying to a question, Gano Sanghati Andolon Chief Coordinator Jonayed Saki said, “After the July revolution, we have been observing with deep regret and concern that a culture of mob attack, dishonor and torture has been introduced that is very dangerous.” Earlier, there were attacks on minorities, mazars, political opponents and individuals, he said, adding that even after 10 months of the revolution, the law and order forces have been failing to react to these issues. 

Saki urged the law enforcers to play active role in these regards.

Citing the mob attack on the former CEC KM Nurul Huda who allegedly conducted the national general elections in the night in 2018,’ Jonayed Saki said that all the perpetrators of 2014, 2018 and 2024 general elections would have to face trial for their crimes. 

He urged the government to take necessary measures to stop such mob attacks. He also protested the bomb attack in front of the central office of the National Citizen Party (NCP).

Among others, political council member of the party Monir Uddin Pappu, secretariat members-Bachhu Bhuiyan, Julhasnain Babu, Depok Kumar Ray, central member Alif Dewan, convener of Dhaka City North Monirul Huda Babon, national council members Popy Rani Sarkar and Tawhidur Rahman, were present at the conference.
