DHAKA, June 20, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury today said freedom fighter and Gano Forum President Mostafa Mohsin Montu was indomitable in the face of adversity.

“Montu never compromised with any autocratic rule and his contribution to uniting all of us in the anti-autocracy movement cannot be snubbed. We will miss him,” he said.

The BNP senior leader made the remarks while talking to journalists after attending the kulkhani of Mostafa Mohsin Montu who passed away on June 15.

Gano Forum organised the event at the Mosjid-e-Monoyara of Katabon in the city. Leaders and activists from BNP and Gano Forum took part in the event.

“It is unfortunate for us that he (Montu) witnessed the downfall of the fascist Hasina government but could not see the institutionalization of democracy or a government elected by the people's votes,” said Amir Khosru.

When asked about his comments on the Election Commission's recent decision to prohibit the use of posters in election campaigns, he remarked, "What's the problem if there are no posters? What's the issue?"

About the BNP's high-level delegation that is going to visit China from June 22, he said, “Bangladesh’s relationship with China has remained good from Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman’s time. I believe that relationships will progress further," he added.

About the return of BNP's acting Chairman Tarique Rahman to the country, he said, "Preparations for Tarique Rahman's return are underway, and he will be back very soon. The BNP and the people of this country are waiting for his arrival."

One of the organisers of the Liberation War in 1971 and the former Member of Parliament   Mostafa Mohsin died on June 15 at the age of 80 in a city hospital.
