DHAKA, May 28, 2025 (BSS) - The Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliament has issued an ordinance amending the Bangabandhu Krirashebi Welfare Act, 2011.
The amendment ordinance was issued in the form of gazette on Tuesday last, said a press release.
Section 2 of the amendment ordinance states that, "The word 'national' shall be substituted for the word 'Bangabandhu' in the full title of the Bangabandhu Krirasebi Kalyan Foundation Act, 2011 (Act No. 3 of 2011), hereinafter referred to as the said act."
In addition, section 12 of the ordinance mentions as its 'special provision', 'With the commencement of this ordinance, any rule, regulation or other legal instrument made under the said Act or any special or general order, notification, in any notification or document issued, unless the context otherwise requires, the word "Bangabandhu" shall be substituted for the word "National".
In its clause 3, instead of the existing proposal - it has been mentioned that 'Whereas the Government considers that it has been necessary to establish a foundation in replace of "Bangladesh Krirashebi Welfare Trust for the welfare of those who have made or are making special contributions in the field of sports, games and physical exercise and their dependents, it is hereby enacted that a law be enacted to replace it.
In addition, this ordinance includes provisions for the appointment of the board of directors, the responsibilities and functions of the foundation and the executive director.
