DHAKA, May 17, 2025 (BSS) - At least five people died and three others were
injured in separate road accidents in the country's four districts today.

In Dinajpur, two motorcycle riders were killed in a road accident on the
Dinajpur-Gobindaganj highway in Phulbari upazila of the district.

The deceased were identified as Sohag Hossain, 30, son of Lutfar Rahman of
Shahbazpur village in Phulbari municipality and Tozammel Haque, son of Nazmul
Haque of Kurshakhali village in Birampur upazila of the district.

The accident took place around 12.30 pm in front of Phulbari municipality
when a truck hit a motorcycle, leaving its rider and co-rider dead on the
spot, said Inspector AKM Khandaker Mohibul, in-charge of Phulbari Police
Station.

In Jhenaidah, a man was killed and three others were injured in a tragic road
accident in Dhanharia area of Jhenaidah Sadar upazila this morning.

The deceased was identified as Mithu Mondal, 45, son of Shafi Mondal, a
resident of Basoil village in Magura district.

The accident took place on the Jhenaidah-Magura highway around 5 am when a
CNG-run auto-rickshaw hit an easy-bike from opposite direction, leaving its
driver Mithu and three others passengers injured, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of
Arappur Highway Police Station Mrityunjoy Biswas confirmed.

The injured were taken to Sadar Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared
Mithu dead.
 
In Narail, a schoolboy was killed as an earth-laden trolley ran over him at
Mirzapur village in Sadar upazila here this morning.

The deceased was Al-Imran, 12, a student of class five of local primary
school and son of Rafiqul, a resident of the village.

"The accident took place on Mirzapur-Singasholpur road around 11 am while he
was crossing the road. He died on the spot," said Sajedul Islam, OC of Narail
Sadar Police Station.

In Joypurhat, Mithu Hossain, 25, died on the spot when a truck hit his
motorbike from the opposite direction on Joypurhat-Naogaon road this
afternoon, said OC of Joypurhat Sadar Police Station Nur Alam Siddique.

He was the son of Fazlur Rahman of Kamarpur village under Badalgachhi upazila
in Naogaon district.
