DHAKA, Sept 2, 2026 (BSS) - BNP Standing Committee member and Prime Minister's Political Adviser Mirza Abbas returned home tonight after undergoing treatment for more than five months in Singapore and Malaysia.
A flight carrying Mirza Abbas landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 9:30pm, BNP Media Cell confirmed. A large number of BNP leaders and activists gathered at the airport to welcome the veteran BNP leader.
According to party sources, Mirza Abbas returned home following the advice of the medical board formed to oversee his treatment. Earlier, on March 11, Mirza Abbas suddenly lost consciousness while drinking water during Iftar. As his condition did not improve, he was admitted to Evercare Hospital in the capital later that night.

His condition deteriorated further and he was taken to Singapore by air ambulance on March 15. After receiving treatment there, he was later transferred to Malaysia for advanced medical care. After spending more than five months undergoing treatment in the two countries, he returned home on the advice of his doctors.
His return after the prolonged treatment drew enthusiasm among BNP leaders and activists, with the airport area turning festive as party supporters gathered to receive him.
