DHAKA, July 23, 2026 (BSS) - Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu today said the government will develop a skilled workforce to strengthen integrated disaster management in the coming years.
He made the remarks while addressing, as the chief guest, the orientation programme for 188 newly recruited employees of the Department of Disaster Management at Disaster Management Building in the capital’s Mohakhali.
The minister said Bangladesh's geographical location makes it highly vulnerable to various natural disasters, which hit the country regularly, said an official handout.
In such difficult times, disaster management personnel serve as a source of hope for affected people, he said.
About transparency in recruitment, he said the total cost incurred by each applicant—from submitting the job application to joining the service—was only Tk 112 for the recently recruited 188 employees.
He said the Department of Disaster Management is an example of the current government's efforts to establish a corruption-free administration through transparency and accountability.
Speaking as the special guest, State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief M Iqbal Hossain urged the newly recruited employees to perform their duties with honesty, dedication, and sincerity.
Disaster Management and Relief Secretary Md. Saidur Rahman Khan also spoke with Department of Disaster Management Director General Razwanur Rahman in the chair.
