DHAKA, May 10, 2026 (BSS) - Eleven more people have died from measles and measles-like symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, according to
the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the deceased, four were confirmed measles patients while seven others had measles-like symptoms, a DGHS control room press release said today.
During the same period, 1,503 new suspected measles cases were reported nationwide, raising the total number of suspected patients to 49,159 since
March 15.
The release said 205 confirmed measles patients were identified in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 6,819 during the
same period.
According to the divisional breakdown, 592 children were infected in Dhaka division, 237 in Chattogram, 183 in Rajshahi, 176 in Barishal, 124 in Sylhet,
107 in Khulna, 63 in Mymensingh and 21 in Rangpur division over the past 24 hours.
Since March 15, a total of 34,909 suspected measles patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country. Of them, 30,862 have recovered and
been discharged after treatment.
The DGHS data showed that 65 people, including four in the last 24 hours, have so far died from confirmed measles infections.
Besides, 344 people, including seven in the past 24 hours, have died from suspected measles infections during the period.
So far, the highest number of suspected measles cases - 22,204 - has been recorded in Dhaka division, where 4,624 cases were later confirmed as
measles.
