DHAKA, Sept 8, 2026 (BSS) – The traffic division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today filed 2,306 cases against vehicles for violating traffic rules during the last 24 hours in the capital.

The cases were filed as part of the DMP's regular enforcement campaign carried out on Thursday and Friday aimed at ensuring traffic discipline, reducing congestion and improving road safety across the city, according to a media and public relations division issued here today.

The DMP said such drives against traffic law violators will continue, urging motorists and pedestrians to comply with traffic regulations to help maintain order on the roads.

It said that the DMP traffic police dumped 498 motor vehicles and towed 336 vehicles during the campaign.

During the drives, the Traffic-Ramna Division filed 113 cases, including nine against buses, seven covered vans, 13 CNG-run auto-rickshaw and 24 motorcycles, according to a media spokesperson of the DMP.

The spokesperson said 193 cases were filed by the Traffic-Lalbagh Division including against buses, 22 trucks, 19 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 95 motorcycles, while Traffic-Motijheel Division filed 322 cases, against seven buses and four trucks.

Meanwhile, the Traffic-Wari Division filed 415 cases, including against 48 buses, 27 trucks, 39 covered vans and 47 CNG-run auto-rickshaws. 

The Traffic-Tejgaon Division filed 156 cases, including against 11 buses, seven covered vans, 12 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 63 motorcycles.

The Traffic-Mirpur Division filed 403 cases, including against 17 buses, 13 trucks, 34 covered vans, 30 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 195 motorcycles, Uttara division registered 468 cases including against 43 buses, 19 trucks, 20 covered vans, 28 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 199 motorcycles.

The Traffic-Gulshan Division filed 236 cases, against 47 buses, two trucks, 12 covered vans, 16 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 51 motorcycles.

The drives were conducted as part of the DMP's ongoing efforts to enforce traffic laws and ensure discipline on the city streets, the DMP release said.
