KHULNA, August 31, 2026 (BSS) – Khulna University (KU) has intensified cleanliness and mosquito control activities on its campus to prevent the spread of dengue, a mosquito-borne disease.

As part of the initiative, bushes and shrubs in different parts of the campus and around residential halls are being cleaned regularly, while mosquito control operations are being conducted using fogger machines.

KU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Rezaul Karim today inspected the ongoing mosquito control activities around the residential halls. During the inspection, he talked to the officials concerned and inquired about the progress of the activities and the overall cleanliness situation in the halls.

He said instructions have been given to conduct cleanliness and mosquito control activities every day from 9am to 5pm, adding that the activities would continue regularly.

Hall authorities were instructed to inspect students’ rooms to identify stagnant water or any environment conducive to mosquito breeding and take necessary measures accordingly.

He further said any student infected with dengue must immediately inform the respective hall administration. Similarly, officials and employees infected with dengue have been asked to contact the Registrar’s Office.

The vice-chancellor also urged teachers, students, officials and employees to remain vigilant alongside the university administration to prevent dengue.

He particularly advised everyone to ensure that water does not accumulate around the campus and residential halls, creating breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
