DHAKA, Aug 29, 2026 (BSS) - Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain today said the longstanding friendship between Bangladesh and Malaysia is based on mutual trust and confidence.
"Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's recent visit to Malaysia has further strengthened the existing friendly relations between the two countries," he said.
The minister made the remarks as chief guest at an event titled "Towards a Stronger Bangladesh-Malaysia Partnership", organized by the Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry at a hotel in Banani today.
Sakhawat Hossain said Bangladeshi businessmen and entrepreneurs had long maintained close ties and worked with their Malaysian counterparts.
He stressed the need to further strengthen bilateral economic relations and called on the Malaysian government to increase imports of Bangladeshi products.
Malaysian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Shuhuda Othman also highlighted the longstanding friendship between the two countries and said the prime minister's recent visit to Malaysia would contribute to further strengthening bilateral relations.
Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Administrator Md Fazlul Haque was also present at the event.
