DHAKA, Aug 29, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Mir Shahe Alam today said the government is working in a planned manner to meet the expectations of the people.
He said the government’s goal is to establish a well-planned and sustainable system in the power and energy sector, taking into consideration the needs of the people and the country’s overall development.
The state minister said this after paying homage at the graves of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, accompanied by the leaders of the BNP’s Mokamtala upazila unit of Bogura district.
Welcoming the newly inducted leadership of the party, he called upon them to play a responsible role in maintaining unity and discipline and working for the welfare of the people. He later talked to the journalists.
The state minister spoke on various issues including country’s ongoing power and energy situation, local government elections and the formulation of regulations concerning e-rickshaws.
Regarding the country’s power and energy situation, Mir Shahe Alam said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman would present the government’s short, medium and long-term plans for the power and energy sector through Parliament.
On local government elections, he said fair and participatory elections are important to further strengthen local government institutions. He said the local government elections would be completed within the current fiscal year.
The state minister said the government’s each initiative is aimed at ensuring people’s welfare, good governance and accelerating the country’s development.
To this end, he urged all those concerned with the government to work responsibly and in a coordinated manner.
