RANGPUR, August 27, 2026 (BSS) - Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mabud has said that the DNA and dope tests of the two arrested accused in the quadruple murder case will be conducted as per law of the land. 
 
During the autopsy, no signs of rape were found on the bodies of brutally murdered retired teacher of Rangpur Zilla School Ganapati Chakraborty Jewel's wife Pritilata Chakraborty and daughter Agami Chakraborty Prarthi.
 
The RpMP Commissioner gave this information at a press briefing held at his conference room in the city today. 
 
Earlier, Ganapati Chakraborty Jewel, 65, his wife Pritilata Chakraborty Bhola, 50, daughter Agami Chakraborty Prarthi, 25 and son Ayush Chakraborty Priyam, 12, were strangled to death at their house in the city’s Machhuapara area few days ago.
 
Police recovered the four decomposed bodies of the popular teacher’s family from their house on Saturday night.
 
Gopinath Chakraborty, elder brother of the deceased Ganapati Chakraborty Jewel, filed a murder case against unknown killers with Rangpur Metropolitan Kotwali police station on Sunday in connection with the four murders.
 
A special RpMP’s DB Police team led by Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Police (DB) Sanatan Chakraborty in separate raids arrested the two killers in the city in the early hours of Sunday.
 
The arrestees are Mugdha Das, 23, son of Kanu Das and Siddhartha Das, 19, son of Binoy Das of the Machhuapara area.
 
They gave confessional statements under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure before Rangpur Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court Judge Md Rafiqul Islam over the quadruple murders.  
 
In the press briefing today, the Police Commissioner said that the investigation is being taken forward to unravel the mystery of the murders by verifying information revealed in the autopsy and the confessional statements given by the accused in the court. 
 
He said that the autopsy has revealed that the cause of death of all four members of the family, including Pritilata Chakraborty Bhola and her daughter Agami Chakraborty Prarthi, was strangulation. 
 
At that time, he presented the statements given in court by the two arrested accused Siddhartha and Mugdha and other witnesses in the court.  
 
Arrested Mugdha Das and Siddhartha Das in their confessional statements narrate a show they reached to the roof of the teacher’s house after 12 midnight Thursday and started consuming Yaba sitting behind a water tank. 
 
While consuming Yaba, they did not notice when it was dawn. Then they committed a series of four murders there. 
 
According to Siddhartha’s statement, they consumed a total of eight Yaba pills that day. Earlier, they had taken a maximum of two Yaba pills together. 
 
However, Mugdhu's statement mentioned consuming nine Yaba pills that day. This could be an account of consuming eight and another Yaba pill later. 
 
In the morning, Ganapati Chakraborty saw them walking on the roof and scolded them and said, “What are you doing here so early in the morning?” 
 
Then they got scared. An argument broke out between them. They feared that Ganapati Chakraborty would shout. Then, they decided to kill him, according to their statements. 
 
Siddhartha and Mugdha twisted the towel around Ganapati Chakraborty’s neck and pulled it from both sides. At one point, he died. 
 
Later, the autopsy report revealed that he died of suffocation. The autopsy information matched their statements. 
 
While the body of the Ganapati Chakraborty was being covered with corrugated tin sheets, his wife and daughter probably heard a noise and came to the roof. 
 
They started screaming. Then, Mugdha grabbed the throat of Ganapati Chakraborty’s wife and Siddhartha grabbed the throat of his daughter. 
 
At one stage, the girl's throat was strangled with the towel. Later, a rope was taken from the box nearby, wrapped around the girl's neck and pulled from both sides. In this way, the mother and daughter were also killed. 
 
Then, fearing whether there was a CCTV camera in the house, they went to the ground floor. There, they found an old plier and used it to cut the electric wire so that even if there was a CCTV camera, it would be disconnected. 
 
Later, they went to the roof again. They placed the bodies of the mother and daughter inside the roof gate towards the stairs. Their intention was to prevent the bodies from being seen from the roof of the adjoining house. 
 
Then they entered Ganapati Chakraborty’s room and saw that his son Ayush Chakraborty Priyam had woken up. 
 
The child recognized Siddhartha and said, 'Siddhartha Dada, why are you here?' 
 
The Police Commissioner said, “We had earlier reported the matter based on the information we had received that the child was sleeping. But in the statement given in the court, they said that the child woke up, recognized Siddhartha and called him by his name. They killed the child out of fear that he might scream and inform others.”
 
According to the statement, the child was strangled by a cloth with a rope around his neck. After that, both of them got very tired. They took a bath and took another Yaba pill that they had with them. 
 
Then, Mugdha came up with a plan to make the house look like a theft or robbery. They opened the drawers of the house and started disorganizing things and took various ornaments. Siddhartha kept them in plastic boxes and cloth packets. 
 
They also took Taka 15, 000 from the house. 
 
When the movement of people outside decreased during Friday prayers, they went from the roof of Ganapati Chakraborty’s house to the roof of the adjoining house. Then they climbed the wall and went outside. 
 
Almost the same description of the incident was found in Mugdha Das's court statement. 
 
The Police Commissioner said that the cooperation of the general public is important in investigating such sensational murders. If anyone has heard or seen any incident, they should inform the law enforcement agencies.
