DHAKA, Aug 18, 2026 (BSS)- Prime minister’s political advisor and BNP Standing Committee member Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today said that BNP is treading the path of democracy shown by the mother of democracy and uncompromising national leader Begum Khaleda Zia.
He made the remarks as the chief guest in a brief discussion before a prayer gathering organized by Dhaka Mohanagar South BNP on the occasion of Begum Khaleda Zia's 82nd birth anniversary this afternoon at the Motijheel AGB Colony Community Centre.
Rizvi said, "As long as Bangladesh exists, as long as nationalism exists, the name of national leader Begum Khaleda Zia will be written in golden letters."
He said Khaleda Zia taught how to love the country and how to sacrifice one's own and family's security, happiness, and comfort for the sake of the nation.
He further said that in 1971, Ziaur Rahman proclaimed Bangladesh's independence by disregarding the safety of his own family members. Similarly, national leader Khaleda Zia has also waged uncompromising struggles on the streets for over three decades.
The event was presided over by Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP Convener Rafiqul Alam Majnu MP, and conducted by Member Secretary Tanvir Ahmed Robin.
Special guests present included BNP Chairman's Advisory Council member and Dhaka South City Corporation Administrator Bir Muktijoddha Abdus Salam, State Minister for the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs Ishraque Hossain MP, and BNP Volunteer Affairs Secretary Mir Sarfatali Sapu.
