Maritime ports asked to hoist signal three

DHAKA, Aug 15, 2026 (BSS)- Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today asked country’s all four maritime ports to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three, said a BMD warning message issued here today.

It said the well-marked low over Jharkhand and adjoining area weakened into a low and lies over southeast Jharkhand and adjoining area.

Steep pressure gradient lies over North Bay and adjoining areas. under its influence squally weather may affect the Maritime Ports, North Bay and adjoining Coastal area of Bangladesh.

Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.

In another special weather bulletin, the BMD said rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind with a wind speed of 45-50 km/kPH likely to occur at a few places over Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar area.

The river ports of the areas have been advised to hoist cautionary signal number one till 6pm today.
