KHULNA, Aug 13, 2026 (BSS) - Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) and Institute Superior Técnico (IST) of Portugal have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in education, research and international academic activities.

The MoU was signed at a ceremony held at KUET’s administrative building here at noon today.

KUET Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Masud signed the MoU on behalf of the university, while IST President Prof Rogério Colaço signed it for the Portuguese institution.

KUET Registrar Engineer Md Anisur Rahman Bhuiyan and Professor Dr Mohammad Ariful Islam of the Department of Mechanical Engineering addressed the event. Prof Dr S M Sohel Morshed spoke on behalf of IST. IQAC Deputy Director Prof Dr Md Rizvi Kaiser moderated the programme.

Under the MoU, students, teachers and officials of the two institutions will have opportunities for exchange programmes, joint research, joint supervision of master’s and doctoral theses, and organization of research meetings and conferences.

The agreement will also facilitate exchanges of scientific equipment, publications and academic information in various fields, including science, technology, engineering, mathematics and architecture.

Speakers said the agreement would create new avenues for mutual cooperation and knowledge sharing between the two institutions, while contributing to further expansion and strengthening of KUET’s international academic and research activities.

Deans of different faculties, directors of institutes, heads of departments, hall provosts, office and branch heads, teachers and officials of KUET attended the signing ceremony.
