DHAKA, Aug 12, 2026 (BSS) - A meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee will be held tomorrow to determine whether the new moon of the holy month of Rabiul Awwal of Hijri 1448 is sighted and fix the date of the holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi, the birth date of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Houssain (Kaikobad) will chair the meeting to be held at 7:00pm (after Maghrib prayer) at the meeting room of the Islamic Foundation (IF) at Baitul National Mukarram here, said a press release.

If the moon of the holy month of Rabiul Awwal is sighted anywhere in the country, people are requested to inform the authorities by calling the following telephone numbers or to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) or Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of the concerned district.
