RANGPUR, Aug 9, 2026 (BSS) - A new and modern reading room with various 
facilities has been inaugurated at Shaheed Mukhtar Elahi Hall in Begum Rokeya 
University, Rangpur (BRUR). 
 
Vice-chancellor (VC) of the university Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali officially 
inaugurated the reading room as the chief guest at a ceremony held on the 
second floor of the hall this afternoon.
 
Speaking at the ceremony, the VC said that the main goal of the university 
administration is to ensure that students can study in a healthy and 
beautiful environment. 
 
"This modern reading room has been arranged for the convenience of the 
residential students of the Shaheed Mukhtar Elahi Hall of the university," he 
added. 
 
Prof Showkat Ali said the learning environment attracts students to 
knowledge. Students will also have to take responsibility for maintaining 
this environment, he continued. 
 
"We want students to get full opportunities to develop their talents through 
the university library and reading room. In the future, efforts will continue 
to enrich the university by increasing the necessary books and research 
opportunities," he said. 
 
The university's Registrar (Additional Charge) Prof Dr Md Ferdous Rahman, 
Shaheed Mukhtar Elahi Hall Provost Prof Dr Md Kamruzzaman and Assistant 
Provosts were present at the inaugural ceremony. 
 
Residential students of the Shaheed Mukhtar Elahi Hall, officers and 
employees, and other concerned persons participated in the programme.
