DHAKA, Aug 6, 2026 (BSS) - Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today joined a doa mahfil and Islamic discussion organised to mark the 42nd death anniversary of his father-in-law, former Chief of Naval Staff and minister Rear Admiral Mahbub Ali Khan.
The programme was arranged by Mahbub Ali Khan's family after Maghrib prayers at their Dhanmondi residence, 'Mahbub Bhaban', PM's Press Secretary Suzauddhowla Sujan Mahmud said.
On the occasion, special prayers and munajat were offered seeking eternal peace for the departed soul of Mahbub Ali Khan.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman attended the doa mahfil along with his wife Dr Zubaida Rahman, daughter of Mahbub Ali Khan, their daughter Barrister Zaima Rahman and other family members.
Acting Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Barrister Kayser Kamal, BNP Secretary General and LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, cabinet members, the Chief Whip, whips, lawmakers, senior BNP leaders, senior military and civil officials, as well as relatives and family members of Mahbub Ali Khan also attended the programme.
On the occasion, eminent Islamic scholars reflected on the life, contributions and legacy of Rear Admiral Mahbub Ali Khan.
Prayers were also offered for the eternal peace of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia and Arafat Rahman Koko.
