DHAKA, Aug 6, 2026 (BSS)- Admiral Steve Koehler, commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, concluded his official visit to Bangladesh today after a series of high-level meetings focused on strengthening maritime security and expanding bilateral defence cooperation.
During his August 4-6 visit, Admiral Koehler paid courtesy calls on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, Defence Adviser AKM Shamsul Islam and Bangladesh Navy Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Khondkar Misbah ul Azim, according to a press release issued by the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka.
The meetings reviewed ways to enhance cooperation in maritime security and further deepen defence ties between Bangladesh and the United States.
The visit reflected the two countries’ continued engagement in promoting regional security and expanding defence collaboration, the release said.
Admiral Koehler’s trip came as Bangladesh and the United States continue to maintain close cooperation in the maritime domain and broader security issues.
