DHAKA, Aug 6, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Embassy in Rabat, the capital of Morocco, has  observed July Mass Uprising Day with due solemnity, paying tribute to the martyrs of the July-August 2024 movement and reaffirming the ideals of justice, inclusiveness and national unity.

The programme, held on Wednesday, began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by a one-minute silence in memory of the martyrs, according to a press release received here today.

Bangladesh Ambassador to Morocco Sadia Faizunnesa read out the messages of the President and the Prime Minister, while Counsellor Rajib Tripura read out the messages of the Foreign Minister and the State Minister for Foreign Affairs issued on the occasion.

Two documentaries on the July 2024 Mass Uprising, produced by the Government of Bangladesh, were screened during the programme.

Addressing the event, Ambassador Faizunnesa paid profound tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the July-August 2024 movement against the autocratic government.

She also recalled the invaluable contributions of the youth who led the movement and called upon all to uphold the spirit of the July Mass Uprising and remain committed to building a just, inclusive and discrimination-free society.

The ambassador said the government, guided by the "Bangladesh First" principle and under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, is working to realise the aspirations of the Liberation War of 1971 and the spirit of the July Mass Uprising of 2024.

The programme concluded with special prayers seeking eternal peace for the souls of the martyrs of the July Mass Uprising.

Bangladeshi expatriates, foreign nationals residing in Morocco, Moroccan citizens, and officials and staff of the embassy attended the observance.
