ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY, Kushtia, Aug 5, 2026 (BSS) - The authorities of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia have formed a five-member probe body to investigate allegations of involvement of 44 teachers of the university in 'secret anti-state activities'.

A notification signed by IU Registrar Professor Dr. Manjurul Haque on Wednesday said the committee has been asked to submit its investigation report along with necessary documents by August 12.

According to the notification, the university administration formed the committee to investigate a report published recently by Asia Post alleging that 44 IU teachers were involved in secret anti-state activities.

IU Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Amtaj Hossain has been made the convener of the committee, while Deputy Director of the Finance and Accounts Department Md. Israful Haque has been appointed as its member secretary.

The other members of the committee are Dr. Mostafizur Rahman of the Al-Hadith and Islamic Studies department, Dr. Rafiqul Islam of the Arabic Language and Literature department and Dr. Sazzat Hossain, a Supreme Court lawyer and panel lawyer of the university.

The terms of reference (TOR) of the committee include investigating whether the teachers mentioned in the Asia Post report were involved in suppressing the anti-discrimination student movement and issuing threats during the tenure of the previous government.

Committee Convener Professor Dr. Amtaj Hossain said, "We will start our work from Sunday and will try to submit the report within the stipulated time."

Earlier on Tuesday night, Asia Post published a report titled "Secret activities of 404 teachers from 22 universities to bring back Sheikh Hasina", in which the names of 44 teachers of Islamic University were mentioned.

The report alleged that Professor Dr. Mahbubar Rahman of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at IU, played a major role in nationwide secret activities and unrest.
