CHATTOGRAM, Aug 5, 2026 (BSS) – State Minister for Land and Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin today said the government would ensure justice for all those affected by the July Massacre.
 
"Anyone involved in the killings and atrocities committed against the nation during the 17-year democratic movement will not be spared," he said.
 
Mir Helal made the remarks as the chief guest at a programme titled 'Discussion on the Significance of the July Mass Uprising, Reception for Families of July Martyrs and July Fighters' held at the Chattogram District Shilpakala Academy today.
 
The Chattogram District Administration organised the programme to commemorate July Mass Uprising Day.
 
Mohammad Abu Sufian, MP, Divisional Commissioner Dr Mohammad Zia Uddin, DIG of Chattogram Range Abdul Quddus, BCB Director Israfil Khasru, CDA Chairman Engineer Belayet Hossain, NCP leader Arif Moinuddin, the mother of Shaheed Faisal Ahmed Shanto, Chattogram Metropolitan Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Nazrul Islam and Chattogram District Police Superintendent Masud Alam, among others, also addressed the function.
 
Addressing the gathering, the state minister said the July Uprising was a spontaneous mass movement that emerged with the participation of people from all walks of life, beyond political affiliations.
 
He stressed the need to preserve at all costs the unity forged during the anti-fascist movement.
 
"Despite our political differences, we must not allow them to weaken our anti-fascist national unity. Whenever the spectre of fascism re-emerges, we will stand united in resistance, and the people of this country will confront it together," he said.
 
The state minister said the oppression and injustices committed by the Awami fascist regime over the past 17 years were unprecedented.
 
"As a result, Sheikh Hasina will never be able to return to this country because the people will never give her that opportunity again," he said.
 
During the programme, the families of the July martyrs were honoured with flowers.
 
Later, the chief guest, Barrister Mir Helal, and other guests distributed prizes among the winners of various competitions organised to mark July Mass Uprising Day.
