Culture minister inaugurates tree plantation programme in Magura

MAGURA, July 25, 2026 (BSS) - Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury today inaugurated  a programme to plant 10,000 saplings in the district as part of the Prime Minister's visionary plan to plant 25 crore trees over the next five years.

The minister inaugurated the programme, as the chief guest, by planting an olive sapling at Magura Police Lines at an event jointly organized by the district police and Greenview Social Development, said a press release here. 

The minister said that there is no alternative to tree plantation in maintaining environmental balance and building a habitable, beautiful Bangladesh for future generations. 

He said that the fusion of culture and nature reflects the identity of a prosperous nation. He called upon people from all walks of society to come forward to make this government initiative a success.

Magura Police Superintendent Molla Azad Hossain chaired the event while Khulna Range DIG Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Magura Deputy Commissioner Motakabbir Ahmed, Administrator of Magura District Council Ali Ahmmed, President of Magura Municipal BNP Md. Masud Hasan Khan Kizil and President of Greenview Social Development Mohammad Ashraful Alam Khan were present.
