Tuku distributes free agri inputs, cash grants among Tangail farmers

DHAKA, July 5, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku inaugurated the distribution of free seeds, fertiliser, tree saplings and cash grants among small, marginal and medium farmers, alongside financial assistance for destitute people in Tangail.

The distribution programme was held at Tangail Sadar upazila on Saturday afternoon, where the state minister attended as the chief guest.

Addressing the function, Tuku said the initiative, implemented by the District Department of Agricultural Extension would help increase the production capacity of marginal farmers and contribute to ensuring the country's food security.

He said the government remains committed to the overall development of the agriculture sector and the welfare of farmers across the country.

The assistance was distributed under the Agricultural Incentive Programme for the Kharif season of the 2025-26 fiscal year with the slogan, "Agriculture is Prosperity."

Under the programme, 2,590 small, marginal and medium farmers in Tangail Sadar upazila received free seeds, fertiliser, various tree saplings and cash grant cheques.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Sanjoy Kumar Mahanta, Superintendent of Police Muhammad Shamsul Alam Sarkar, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shahin Mia, Deputy Director of the District Department of Agricultural Extension Ashek Parvez and Upazila Agriculture Officer Rumana Akter were present, among others.
