Govt. prioritizing to ensure fair price of agro goods: Minister

CHATTOGRAM, July 4,2026 (BSS) – Fisheries, Livestock and Agriculture Minister Mohammed Aminur Rashid today said to ensure the fair price of the goods produced by the farmers is one of the government’s top priorities.

“The interest of the farmers will be protected after bringing the production, incentives, subsidies and marketing system under a combined structure through the farmers cards,” he said.

The minister said this as the chief guest at a view exchange meeting with different subordinate department and organizations of the Department of fisheries (DoF), Department of Livestock Services (DLS) and the Agriculture Ministry at Chattogram circuit house here.

The meeting was held with the support of Chattogram divisional administration and district administration.

The government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman as well as the people of the country believe that the country’s economy will be strengthen if the farmers become financially self-reliant, said the minister.

To materialize the goal, he said the government is implementing a series of programmes to increase production, effective marketing system and ensuring farmer’s income through bringing agriculture, fisheries and livestock sector under modern, planned and technology based management system.

He told the officials that  the policy, action plan and instructions announced by the government should to be implemented properly. The concerned officials will have to face accountability if they fail to combine themselves in line with the  pace of the government.

“There is no alternative to responsibility, sincerity, and professional competence in executing the directives of the head of the government”, the minister told the function.

To strengthen the agriculture and rural economy, Rashid said various development programmes have been taken as part of the implementation of 31-points pledges to the people announced by the BNP before the national election.

In continuation of these programmes, the farm credit up to Taka 10,000 has been exempted and the money has been paid to those banks concerned on behalf of the government.

To reduce dependency on the ground water, the minister said the government has given emphasis on canal re-excavation programme for developing sustainable water management system.

The government is giving special importance on implementation of the initiative of using surface water for agriculture during the dry season.

Agriculture minister said the farmers card programme has been initiated with an aim to develop a combined digital database of the farmers across the country. After successful implementation of the pilot project, all the marginal, small and other farmers will be brought in phases under the card.

To identify real farmer, direct distribution of government incentives and subsidies, formulation of production plan and market management of farm products would be possible to make more effective and transparent through this card, said the minister.

The agriculture minister said the agriculture, fisheries and livestock sector would be made more effective by making the best use of Bangladesh's fertile soil, favourable climate, and abundant natural resources.

The government is implementing the farmers friendly policy and programme guided by the vision that  the prosperity of farmers is the foundation of the nation's prosperity.

State Minister for Land and Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin,  fisheries and livestock secretary M Delwar Hossen, Director general of the department of fisheries DR M Khaled Kanak, Chattogram local government division  director Monwara Begum, deputy commissioner Mohmmad Zahidul Islam Mia and other concerned department  officials, among others, attended the meeting.
