CHATTOGRAM, July 04, 2026 (BSS)-  Agriculture Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid has said middlemen will not be able to exploit agricultural cards.

He mentioned that a comprehensive database of farmers and crops across the country will be prepared under the project.

This will enable us to identify which crops are cultivated in specific regions. We will be able to inform them of the demand if there is an oversupply of potatoes in a particular area. Consequently, farmers will be able to adjust their production to meet demand. If there is equilibrium between supply and demand, middlemen will not be able to take advantage," he remarked.

Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid made these comments in response to inquiries from journalists following a meeting with officials from the Agriculture Department at the Chattogram Circuit House today. Officials from the Agriculture Department were present during this discussion.

He said the government is considering establishment of mini cold storages at union level. The cold storages will be operated by solar energy as envisaged by the Prime Minister.

He said the government is committed to supporting farmers. It has already made the decision to waive loans up to Taka 10,000 taka for the most impoverished farmers.
