GAZIPUR, June 18, 2026 (BSS) - Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam today said the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, has taken a series of measures to support local industries and entrepreneurs, while the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 includes several tax and duty benefits in this regard.

He made the remarks while inaugurating the export of Walton's Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA), or motherboard, to the United States by cutting a ribbon at a function held at the headquarters of Walton Hi-Tech Industries at Chandra here, said a ministry press release.

Prime Minister's Adviser Rehan Asif Asad was present on the occasion.

Walton, a local technology giant, is producing high-tech and world-class motherboards or PCBAs in Bangladesh. Apart from meeting its own and domestic demand, the company is exporting PCBAs and various technology products to different countries around the world.

Speaking at the function, Fakir Mahbub Anam, also Science and Technology Minister said Walton is truly a wonder.

"We are overwhelmed to see that Walton has built such a beautiful and vast local industry. Walton has proved that Bangladesh can also manufacture world-class technology products," he said.

The minister later visited different factories of Walton. During the visit, Walton officials briefed him in detail about the production process, quality verification and marketing of their products.

The Walton PCBAs or motherboards exported from Bangladesh to the United States will be used in security devices of advanced gunshot detection and emergency rescue operation systems in the United States.

Wisconsin-based information technology company SAFEPRO Technologies Inc. is importing the motherboards manufactured by Walton.

SAFEPRO Technologies Inc. has earned wide recognition and made significant contributions by providing effective security systems to protect the lives of the general public, including school and college students in the United States.

Among others, Gazipur-1 constituency Member of Parliament Md Mujibur Rahman, Managing Director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries SM Mahbubul Alam, Directors SM Nurul Alam Rezvi and SM Manjurul Alam, and other Walton officials were present at the inauguration ceremony.
