KHULNA, June 12, 2026 (BSS) – Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju today said the government has taken initiatives for introducing ICT-based services in every sphere of development to build an economically advanced country.

He made the remarks while inaugurating a Startup, Science Project and Innovative Ideas Exhibition at the auditorium of Metro Police Line High School in Boyra, Khulna.

Describing the exhibition as a gathering of young scientists, Manju said the government is attaching greater importance to ICT and innovation in shaping the country's future.

Referring to the post-July mass uprising period, he said Bangladesh has embarked on a new journey towards a more equitable society and that the country's young generation must be prepared to lead this transformation through education, science and innovation.

The KCC administrator said the national budget unveiled yesterday gave the highest priority to the education sector, reflecting the government's commitment to spreading education and encouraging scientific thinking among students.

He urged young innovators to utilise their talents and creativity for national development, saying the country's future progress would depend largely on the intellectual capabilities of its youth.

Manju also expressed concern over the spread of drug abuse, attributing it partly to disruptions in education and sports activities. He stressed the need to bring students back to academic and extracurricular activities to build a healthier society.

The function was chaired by Director of Secondary and Higher Education, Khulna Region, Professor Dr Md Anis-Ar-Reza.

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Hasan and Deputy Director (College) of Secondary and Higher Education, Khulna Region, Dr SM Sajjad Hossain, addressed the event as special guests.

Khan Jahan Ali Thana Secondary Education Officer Mosammat Rumanai Yasmin also spoke on the occasion.

The programme was organised by the Educational Excellence Support Scheme (EESS) with the cooperation of the Khan Jahan Ali Thana Secondary Education Office.

Later, Manju visited the fire-damaged Khulna City Medical College Hospital.

In the afternoon, he attended the closing and prize-giving ceremony of a similar Startup, Science Project and Innovative Ideas Exhibition at Reverend Paul’s High School Auditorium in Sonadanga under Kotwali Thana, where he distributed crests and certificates among the winners.

The ceremony was presided over by Dr SM Sajjad Hossain. Professor Dr Md Anis-Ar-Reza and Kotwali Thana Secondary Education Officer Md Abdul Momin, among others, also spoke.

Earlier in the morning, Manju addressed a seasonal fruit festival as chief guest at the office of the Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Metropolitan Unit.
