49,982 Bangladeshi Hajis return home

DHAKA, June 11, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 49,982 Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims have returned home from Saudi Arabia as of Wednesday following the completion of this year's Hajj held on May 26.

“A total of 116 return flights were operated by three designated carriers -- 50 by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, 46 by Saudia Airlines and 20 by Flynas Airlines,” an official said. 

Hajj office said, so far, 4,289 Hajis returned under government management, while 45,693 under private travel agencies arrangements, in 116 flights.

A total of 49 Bangladeshi pilgrims - 33 males and 16 females - passed away in Saudi Arabia during this year's Hajj. Of them, 35 died in Makkah, 13 in Madinah and one in Jeddah, while no deaths were reported in Mina or Muzdalifah.

Besides, a total 401 Hajis received treatment from various hospitals in Saudi Arabia, while 25 Hajis were hospitalized. Saudi Arabian medical centres provided treatment to 61,473, while IT help desk gave services to 27,315 Hajis in Makkah and Madinah.

This year's Hajj operations began with the first outbound flight on April 18 and concluded on May 21.

The return Hajj flights started on May 30 and will continue until July 1.
