Parliamentary delegation to attend South Asia Cooperation Forum in Kunming

DHAKA, June 10, 2026 (BSS) - A four-member parliamentary delegation led by Deputy Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad Barrister Kayser Kamal left Dhaka today for Kunming, the capital of China’s Yunnan Province, to attend the 7th China-South Asian Cooperation Forum and other official engagements.

The delegation departed on a China Eastern Airlines flight at 2:00 pm. Other members of the delegation are NCP Member Secretary Akhter Hossen, MP, BNP lawmaker Engineer Khaled Hossain Mahbub Shyamal, MP, and reserved-seat lawmaker Jesmin Sultana, MP.

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen and senior officials of the Chinese Embassy saw off the delegation at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

During the visit, Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal will deliver the keynote address as the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the 7th China-South Asian Cooperation Forum at the invitation of the Governor of Yunnan Province.

The parliamentary delegation will also attend the 10th China-South Asia Exposition as invited guests. 

Bangladesh has been designated as the Theme Country for this year's exposition and will participate with the highest number of trade pavilions. Bangladesh's Commerce Minister is expected to inaugurate the trade fair as the chief guest.

As part of the two-day visit to Kunming, the delegation will hold bilateral meetings with the Governor of Yunnan Province and the Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Yunnan Provincial Committee to discuss issues of mutual interest and avenues for enhanced cooperation.

On the final day of the tour, the Deputy Speaker will give special interviews to China Global Television Network (CGTN) and Yunnan National Television.

The delegation is scheduled to return here on June 13.

The visit is expected to further strengthen parliamentary exchanges and cooperation between Bangladesh and China.
