DHAKA, June 10, 2026 (BSS) - The government has approved a special allocation of Taka 177.8 crore for Zila Parishads to carry out infrastructure development and public welfare-oriented activities in different districts of the country.
The Local Government Division under the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives has released the amount one-time from the 'Zila Parishad Development Assistance' sector under the Annual Development Programme (ADP) for the current fiscal 2025-26.
The Local Government Division issued an order to this end on June 2.
The order states that over Taka 177.79 crore has been released in favour of the Zila Parishads from the 'Zila Parishad Development Assistance' sector.
The Zila Parishads will be able to spend this money on implementing development projects in their respective areas.
According to the government order, separate allocations have been made for different Zila Parishads considering the development needs of the districts.
Most zila parishads have been allocated Taka 2,11,47,500, while some zila parishads Taka 2,91,47,500 each.
A total of 61 districts, including Dhaka, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal, Sylhet, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Cumilla, Cox's Bazar, Noakhali, Faridpur, Gazipur, Narsingdi, Jashore, Bogura, Pabna, Dinajpur, Madaripur, Moulvibazar, Satkhira, Bagerhat, Habiganj, Bhola, Pirojpur, Barguna, Lalmonirhat, Thakurgaon and Joypurhat are receiving the allocations.
Local Government Division officials said the allocation will accelerate the implementation of road, bridge-culvert, education and healthcare infrastructure development, construction of public welfare facilities, expansion of water and sanitation systems and other local development activities at the district level.
