DHAKA, June 8, 2026 (BSS) - Six Bangladeshi youths have been selected to participate in the prestigious "International Children's Conference for Peace: Children as the Peacemakers" to be held at the International Children's Center "Artek" in Republic of Crimea, Russia' from June 18 to July 13, 2026.

The organisers recently announced the final selection results and confirmed that the selected participants will receive complimentary tickets to attend the three-week international peace conference at the globally renowned Artek camp, said  a press release today

The selected Bangladeshi participants are Prem Junior T. Hansdak of Tulip International School and College, Dinajpur; Ahnaf Kawsar and Jahran Kawsar of Motijheel Government Boys' High School, Dhaka; Md. Daiyan Rahman and Md. Ayaan Rahman of Government Mohammadpur Model School and College, Dhaka; and Chowdhury Mahtasim Masrafi of Dhaka Residential Model College, Dhaka.

The conference will bring together young representatives aged between 14 and 17 from different countries to promote friendship, intercultural understanding and peace building among children and youth.

According to the organisers, the initiative builds on the success of the 2025 "Children's Declaration of Peace", which was adopted by more than 3,200 children from 67 countries during a previous gathering at Artek and was later presented to the United Nations General Assembly.

The programme aims to inspire a new generation of young diplomats and future peacemakers through discussions, cultural exchanges, educational activities and collaborative projects focused on global peace and international cooperation.

The initiative also draws inspiration from historic child peace ambassadors Samantha Smith of the United States and Katya Lycheva of Russia, who became symbols of friendship and mutual understanding during the Cold War era.

Selected participants have been instructed to complete their registration through the official Artek online system and prepare for travel in mid-June.

Their participation is expected to further strengthen youth engagement in international dialogue, cultural exchange and peace building efforts.
