CHATTOGRAM, June 5, 2026 (BSS)- State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque has said the government is implementing various programs aimed at building a nation that is both talented and supportive of sports.
Aminul Haque said this while speaking as the chief guest at a meeting of views exchange with officials from Chattogram's divisional and district sports organizations at the Chattogram Circuit House conference room today.
The sports minister said sports allowances and sports cards have been distributed to approximately 300 national-level competitors.
“After June, an additional 500 athletes will be included in this initiative. We are ensuring healthcare, insurance benefit, and social security for the players through these sports cards,” he noted.
He said children and teenagers became addicted in mobile phones and various digital devices. Engaging in sports is one of the most effective strategies to address this issue. Sports not only promote physical health of children but also contribute to their mental development, helping them avoid various social issues, including drug abuse.
Aminul Haque highlighted that the government has already initiated the “New Bud Sports” program, which provides equal opportunities for boys and girls aged 12 to 14 to participate. This initiative is helping to discover new talented athletes from various regions of the country.
The meeting was chaired by Divisional Commissioner Dr. Md. Ziauddin with Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah serving as the moderator.
Senior officials from different government departments and divisional representatives of sports organizations attended the discussion.
Later in the afternoon, the State Minister for Youth and Sports inaugurated the Shaheed Zia Memorial Open Gold Cup Football Tournament.
