Dr Zahid shares Eid joy with underprivileged children at his residence

DHAKA, May 31, 2026 (BSS) - Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Minister Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain has exchanged post-Eid greetings with the underprivileged children at his official residence here today. 

Children from Mirpur Shishu Paribar (Boys), Tejgaon Shishu Paribar (Girls), Azimpur Chhotomoni Nibash and the Shishu Bikash Kendra attended the event, spending an enjoyable afternoon with the minister and sharing the festive spirit of Eid. 

At that time, the minister exchanged greetings with the children, listened to their Eid experiences and personally hosted the event. A special meal, including seasonal fruits and other refreshments, was arranged for the children. 

The children expressed their excitement and gratitude, describing the occasion as a memorable experience. Many said they were delighted to have the opportunity to visit the minister’s official residence and receive his warm hospitality. 

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said the initiative was aimed at spreading the joy of Eid among all the segments of the society, particularly those who are less privileged. 

“Bringing smiles to the faces of underprivileged children is a collective responsibility of all of us. Children are the future of the nation and the government remains committed to ensuring their well-being and development,” he said. 

 He also noted that similar initiatives would continue in the future to help the marginalized and orphaned children become more integrated into mainstream society. 

Among others, the minister’s spouse, Dr. Sharifa Karim Swarna, Social Welfare Secretary Dr. Mohammad Abu Yousuf; Women and Children Affairs Secretary Yasmin Parveen, the Director General of the Department of Social Services, the Director General of the Department of Women Affairs and other officials from the participating child welfare institutions, were present at that time.
