FARIDPUR, May 30,2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam today said the ideals, patriotism and leadership of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman are still an immense source of inspiration to the people of the country.
 
The state minister said this as the chief guest during a discussion, doa-mahfil here, marking the 45th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman at Charjashordi and Talma union of Nagarkanda upazila and Nagarkanda pourashava here.
 
She also highlighted the colorful political carrier of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, his contribution to the great War of Independence and his role in establishing democracy in the country.
 
“The ideals, patriotism and leadership of Shaheed president Ziaur Rahman are still an immense source of inspiration to the people of the country. BNP leaders and activists are working unitedly for the welfare of the country as well as the nation following the path showed by the former president”, she told the function.
 
At first, the discussion and doa-mahfil were held at Chadhat Bazar of Charjashordi union and food have been distributed distressed people.
 
Later, the function was held at Talma more of Talma union where food have been distributed among 350 to 400 poor people. 

District Jubo Dal joint secretary general and former Nagarkanda PouraJubo Dal president M Taiyabur Rahman Masud, former Poura BNP president Asaduzzaman, former Upazila BNP presidents Habibur Rahman, Babul Talukder, vice president and former upazila vice chairman Syed Shahinuzzaman Shahin, among others, attended the function.
 
Special doa seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman was held after the discussion.
