DHAKA, May 30, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Aninda Islam Amit today said the new generation should be informed in detail about the patriotism and integrity of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, and opportunities should be created for young people to read books written about him.
He made the remarks while addressing a discussion organized by the Jashore district BNP and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal at the party office at Laldighi Par in the city marking the 45th martyrdom anniversary of BNP founder and Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.
Aninda said, "Ziaur Rahman lives in the hearts of the people of Bangladesh. Not only the people of this country, but people across the world know about his patriotism and integrity. That is why, despite carrying out countless propaganda campaigns against the Zia family and BNP, the head of the previous fascist government, Sheikh Hasina, could not raise any question about the integrity of martyred Zia."
The State Minister said that the main slogan of BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is "Bangladesh First".
He said the people of the country have embraced this slogan wholeheartedly, enabling BNP to form the government with an overwhelming majority.
He said the current government is committed to building a self-reliant and developed Bangladesh by placing the national interest above all else and advancing with this spirit.
On the occasion of the 45th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, the district BNP and its associate and affiliated organizations are observing daylong programmes in Jashore today.
Since morning, the party office has hosted the completion of Holy Quran recitation, a voluntary blood donation programme, food distribution among the underprivileged, and a discussion meeting.
The meeting was chaired by Jashore district BNP President Advocate Syed Saberul Haque Sabu. BNP Central Committee Vice-Chairman Professor Nargis Begum attended as a special guest.
Among others, Jashore district BNP General Secretary Delwar Hossain Khokon and leaders of the district BNP, Jubo Dal, Chhatra Dal and other affiliated organizations addressed the programme.
Later, a special munajat was offered seeking eternal peace for the soul of martyred Zia and the welfare of the country and the nation.
